Traveling With A Baby Print E-mail

Traveling With A BabyTraveling with a baby is a full time job. If you are traveling alone with a baby, especially involving air travel, you simply have to be attentive to your infant every minute. Traveling with a baby often means worrying  that you are packing everything you need to care for the baby on the trip.  The best thing to do is to prepare a checklist of what you need and then check off each item as you pack it. The checklist  should  include  these things:

Disposable Diapers
Blankets
Sleepers
Baby wipes
Baby lotion or powder if used
Extra pacifiers.
Bottle, and a few extras (they get lost easily while traveling)
Formula, food, water and/or juice
Zip-lock, or other re-sealable plastic bags.
Extra clothes –undershirts, and a few outfits per day
Car seat (if traveling by car)
Portable crib (if needed)
Collapsible stroller
Sun hat
Plastic for use in changing the baby
Any necessary medicines, baby vitamins, etc.
Extra clothes for yourself
Burping pad, cloth diaper, or light blanket.
Washable bibs
Plastic feeding spoons

The packing for a trip involving a baby should start long in advance to ensure that no detail
is forgotten. As you pack each item or article, check to make sure you have added
extra in case of accidents.

Simply go through a sample day at home and make a list of everything the baby needs when
not travelling. Add extra to the list. Of course,  bring a camera and plenty of film. Most babies are not comfortable away from their usual routines and will look to you to establish the security they are used to.
It is important to try to shield your little one from all the overwhelming hustle and bustle. Talking and playing familiar games like Peek a Boo are helpful.
